Bio

Rachel Green is a Ph.D. student at the University of California, Santa Barbara and a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow. Originally from Maryland, she received her Bachelor’s degree in Natural Resources Conservation from the University of British Columbia in 2018. Previously, she worked at NASA Ames Research Center with the NASA DEVELOP program on remote sensing of harmful algal blooms in Lake Erie, and later, with the Bay Area Environmental Research Institute developing a drought monitoring application for the Navajo Nation. Her research interests include integrating remotely sensed imagery and demographic data to improve drought forecasting, monitor climate-induced human displacement, and understand livelihood change in East Africa.
