Martin Landsfeld has been on the CHC team since 2011. He obtained his M.A. in Geography at UCSB in 1990 studying environmental and hydrological modeling as applied to geographic information systems. His areas of expertise lie in computer mapping and environmental sciences and education. Martin has been developing software for more than 30 years and has written software for a wide variety of projects, including remote-sensing applications, famine-prediction tools, web-mapping services, scientific data analysis, hydrologic and atmospheric modeling, and applications for environmental science education and medical training. He is proficient in a number of procedural and object-oriented languages, statistical analysis, data visualization, remote-sensing systems, web services, multi­media application development, user interface design, and 3D modeling. He has conducted research at Lawrence Berkeley Laboratories, Earth Science Division, and in various organizations at UCSB, including the Earth Space Research Group, the Earth Research Institute, and the Geography department. Martin formerly worked as a multimedia and scientific programmer at the educational software development companies, Planet Earth Science and at The New Media Studio (TNMS). He also helped build the 1980 Olympic Ice Arena in Lake Placid, New York.
