Christopher K. Shitote is the Eastern Africa Assistant Field Scientist for the USGS component of FEWS NET. He is stationed at the Eastern Africa FEWS NET Head Office in Nairobi, Kenya. He provides direct support to eleven FEWS NET countries—namely Burundi, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, and Yemen. In addition to this, he supported a USAID-funded project known as Planning for Resilience in East Africa through Policy, Adaptation, Research, and Economic development (PREPARED), which closed in 2018. Shitote also supports the GeoGLAM - Early Warning Crop Monitor (EWCM) for the east Africa Region, which was initiated by the University of Maryland and supported by FEWS NET.
