Bio

Agossou Gadedjisso-Tossou was born in Togo and holds a Ph.D. in Integrated Management of Water, Soil, and Waste from Technische Universität Dresden (TUD) and the United Nations University Institute for Integrated Management of Material Fluxes and Resources (UNU-FLORES), Germany. His doctoral dissertation focused on the impact of climate and soil variability on crop water productivity and food security of irrigated agriculture in Northern Togo, West Africa. Agossou began his academic journey with a Master’s degree in Climate Change and Human Security from the University of Lomé and the West African Science Service Center on Climate Change and Adapted Land Use (WASCAL). In his professional career, Agossou has worked on numerous projects addressing climate change impacts, agricultural productivity, and food security in West Africa. Since March 2022, he has served as an expert at the AGRHYMET Regional Centre, where he leads projects like WaSCIA (Water Stress and Climate Indices for Africa) and SEMOR (Space-Enabled Modeling of the Niger River), focused on enhancing regional water resource management and drought monitoring. He has been actively involved in various international projects, including working with CGIAR and contributing to the implementation of climate-smart agriculture in West Africa under ECOWAS. Agossou has a strong publication record in climate variability, water management, and crop productivity and has supervised several master’s students. Since August 2024, Agossou has been the FEWS NET Regional Scientist for Sahel/West Africa based at AGRHYMET Regional Center in Niamey, Republic of Niger.
