Chris Funk's Work Featured in Light of Somalia Drought

In light of the severe drought in Somalia, UC Santa Barbara's The Current featured Chris Funk and the work of the CHG in predicting the current climate hazard. The work featured echoes the disastrous conditions of Ethiopia in 1984 as well as the early warning efforts to mitigate famine in Ethiopia in 2011 and in Somalia in 2015.

Funk and the CHG's work in Somalia, whose government recently declared the drought conditions to be a "national disaster," was also recently featured in National Geographic and was interviewed on KCRW's To The Point's March 30th broadcast regarding unprecedented emergency food assistance needed in famine-stricken countries.
